5. It was lo, those many years ago (1956). I was a sophomore in high school.

If you wanted to leave study hall to go to the library, you signed a sheet. Last kid took the sheet and handed it to the librarian, who then called out the names on the sheet to make sure the kids who left the study hall, made it to the library.

The poor librarian was single, probably in her late 20's.

She begins to call out the names..

"Bobby Ar---" "Here."

"Jim Jo----- " "Here."

"Henry Kl-----" "Here."

"Dick Huertz". (Silence)

(Louder) "DICK HUERTZ. (Silence"

EVEN LOUDER. "WHO'S Dick Huertz?" Followed by 20 kids raising their hands, "Mine, Mine, Mine"

The poor woman turned red, went into her office and we never saw her for the rest of the period.
