Braun declares Nuclear Family Month [View all]

The governor, however, said his proclamation wasn’t intended to send a message to same-sex couples, divorced parents or other types of families.

“It sends no message other than the nuclear family is important,” Braun told reporters Tuesday. “… This isn’t about any other statement, other than the nuclear family is important. You’re going to have others that might say otherwise, but that’s not the case.”

Yeah, I’m not buying this at all. At all. Why? Because there’s 11 months out of the year you can have your ‘Nuclear Family Month,’ but you chose this month, why? I remember when you put your foot in your mouth about saying interracial marriages should be left to the states, you meant to say same sex couples, as if Indiana wouldn’t ban marriage equality and same sex relations if Obergefell/Lawrence were ever overturned (I hope never. I put nothing past the corrupt, illegitimate six, but once in a great while, they come out with a pleasant surprise).

My parents divorced when I was around toddler age, cut off all contact with father at age 16, and I’ve had ups and downs - things could definitely be better for me, but I know they could also be a lot worse. I don’t make a lot of money with my job, but still have some accomplishments in life, both before and after I moved here in the Fall of 2019.

Also, my girlfriend’s son had to grow up without a father, as he died in a car accident when her son was just three years old. He’s going to school now after having earned an Associate’s in high school and will start school as a sophomore and made it to the IHSAA State Finals in swimming his junior year.

Eat your heart out, you smug, smarmy prick in the governor’s chair. A ‘nuclear family’ isn’t automatic grounds for success, something which deviates from a ‘nuclear family’ isn’t inherent grounds for failure.

I remembered when their side rallied against ‘participation trophies.’ J6 and stuff like this screams participation trophy material - because no matter how much they want to admit it, June is Pride Month here and nationwide.

Happy Pride.
