AUGUSTA, Maine – In a press conference that incorporated Russian nesting dolls as props, Maine Gov. Paul LePage today lambasted the press for portraying him as “the biggest dumb-ass there is on the face of the earth,” called President Obama a “dictator,” slammed war hero U.S. Sen. John McCain, dismissed Trump’s comments glorifying sexual violence as “eleven years old,” and compared himself to Jesus Christ.

Below are just a few highlights from LePage’s press conference:

“I believe the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, is a dictator.”

“According to your writings, I’m about the biggest dumb-ass there is on the face of the earth, and coming from you all, it’s a compliment.”

“John McCain for instance, John McCain, he spent his time in Vietnam. He had a lovely wife here who held everything together. When he got released, he dumped her. I mean, that’s not the great generation.”

“The only person who has ever been perfect in the history of mankind was crucified - by the government.”

“What’s it, eleven years old?...Have you done anything wrong in the last eleven years?”

“I have no respect for you at all. Make no bones about that. I think that you all live in a world of words and your life is to destroy people.”
