The forecast was for 5 to 8". The snow is ending so I went out and measured about 4" of a very light and fluffy snow. There are lots of cancellations, which is good because despite not getting buried with snow, some of the roads look to be very treacherous. Yesterday it felt like there was an ice slick beneath the plowed snow and it took me almost an hour to drive 12 miles. The air temps are too cold for road salt to do much of a job. Right now it's 11 and tonight's forecast is for -4.
It does look like this brutal cold snap is about to end and by this time, next week, we could be in the mid to upper 30's
Living in Michigan, being prepared for bad Winter weather is kind of second nature. I have a generator and always keep at least 2 weeks worth of necessities on hand during the Winter season, and that includes firewood. This preparation got me through a week long Winter storm related power outage, back in 2013.
So, I can kind of imagine what people are going through in Texas and the other southern states, but at least I can realistically anticipate and prepare for that kind of weather.
