•The ten least peaceful states are (from 50 to 40) Louisiana, Tennessee, Nevada, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Maryland, respectively.
When I was in the military I was sta. in louisiana and Texas for boot camp -I was priviledge to belong to a strac unit assigned to sac that could moblize and be fighting anywhere in the world within 24 hours! our cadre just finished 16 weeks of advanced trainig and boot camp- we (1600+) had to do our regular boot camp plus 16 weeks of school and advance boot camp training. to say that a week end pass let off a lot of frustration would be understandable. one barracks in a company could earn sat afternoon till sunday @6 p.m after the first 8 weeks of basic.
what we found as our unit was made up of new england ,new york and pennsylvina
recruits! was a completely diff. world. prostitution was rampant, illegal gambling was
everywhere and the law looked the other way!(that was lousiana)
we moved to fort hood in killeen texas for our last 16 weeks of basic;same deal on passes and same corruption !
did I mention that you had to have an IQover 115(u only need 110 for officer training school) you had to pass a physical strength test and you had to mentaly stable- they wanted the cream of the crop!
Our mess hall was next to the orderly room in Texas and I had k.p. the day I heard the co say to his second lt.'s "I got a pvt on k.p. that can out fight, out think and out drink any of you west point sissies!
evidently texas and louisanna hasn't changed ! neither has their politics!
