IIRC, the republican meme throughout the first term was that they wanted to ensure BHO didn't become a two term president.
Given the outcome of 2012, many might think they've failed in that goal...but it's all in the subtleties. IF the right could repeal the 22nd, BHO could run again and become a three term president. Thus enabling the republicans to claim success in their goal of ensure he's not a two term president. All they have to do is run him against the Rand-man and it's all but guaranteed.
Ya see - ys just have to tink creatively like a repub.
