4. I haven;t been able to find out what the new approaches will be but...

this quote from the article doesn't say much about the writer's knowledge of the subject...

"The new procedures, known as “GPS arrival” would mandate that airplanes fly along a fixed course, with pilots using a series of geographic waypoints to guide them, which would mean more concentrated noise that comes with an increase in the number of planes.."


And a quote from another knowledge short article linked from the one above... the same...

"The FAA decided to adopt a “GPS” procedure for arrivals into the airport, meaning that planes will follow the same exact path according to a computer, with no variation."


The runways that should be greatly affected by this are 1 and 19.. The others are generally too short for even an A-320 or B-737... or even regional jets..

The ILS for rwy 1 IS along the river-- a pretty much 'straight in' approach.

The approach for RWY 19 is also along the river, BUT the river bends a good deal and the way points require more course changes..(There is no ILS for RWY 19..)-- and it IS a tricky approach, with a last turn just before landing...
