Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey launches official re-election bid [View all]

MINNEAPOLIS — Two-term Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey announced Wednesday he intends to keep his seat for another four years with the official launch of his re-election campaign.

In a statement, Frey said he's committed to keeping the city "accessible to everyone."

“Minneapolis, together, we have faced adversity head-on and produced real results. We are the national leader in affordable housing policy. We are developing affordable and deeply affordable housing at an unprecedented rate, keeping Minneapolis affordable and accessible to everyone," Frey said.

The statement also outlined the mayor's achievements while in office, including the development of more affordable housing; facilitating the city's recovery after COVID; and a revamp of the Minneapolis Police Department in the wake of George Floyd's 2020 murder by a former MPD officer.
