The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General encourages the public to use this portal to report incidents involving harmful conduct by, or negative interactions with, federal personnel conducting immigration enforcement in New Jersey.
Federal agents have authority to enforce federal immigration laws, but they must do so lawfully. Examples of concerning activity include uses of excessive force, warrantless searches or arrests, racial profiling, wrongful detentions, interference with voting, or other civil-rights violations.
The information submitted through this portal may be used by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General to assist the Office in enforcing the law, including by using the information as evidence in court, and to make any appropriate referrals to third parties, including other New Jersey state government agencies.
Filing a report regarding federal immigration enforcement activity does not generate a complaint or start a lawsuit on your behalf, and it does not guarantee that the Office of the Attorney General will take any legal action. The Office of the Attorney General does not represent or provide legal advice to individuals who submit information via this portal. Information provided to our office may be subject to requests or release under New Jerseys Open Public Records Act (OPRA) or as otherwise required by state or federal law or court rules. If you have questions about your legal rights or about interacting with federal immigration enforcement agents, you may want to consider consulting a lawyer or the resources compiled by the State of New Jersey at Know Your Rights.
