Neither does your linked article other than to say he wasn't mentioned.
Watching & reading the news I did wonder where he was, why he wasn't mentioned.

Rep. Stephanie Maez cried on camera about what a tough life her son has had,
while the boy he's accused of murdering is dead and buried in a grave.

What role, if any, did the father play in the boy's life? Did he pay child support?
Did he share custody?

If he's been absent all these years, then mentioning him to absolve Rep. Stephanie Maez
of any parental responsibility ....
well, what was the point?
