1. Some campaign advice from someone who

ran for the Kansas State House a while back: Do post card follow ups. Have a bunch printed up to either look like your yard sign or whatever campaign slogan you're using. Send one to every single person who has said they will vote for you, and to everyone who seems persuadable. Don't waste the postage or the time on cards to those who you know won't vote for you.

If at all possible, personalize the message on the card. If, for instance, the voter was pruning her roses when you stopped by, mention them.

Save those lists. If you run again, start your campaign by sending a postcard to those you think voted for you. The message will depend on whether you're running for re-election or making another try for the seat.

Trust me, those cards are highly effective.
