Professional bull rider Daylon Swearingen rode into a press event at Madison Square Garden on a laid-back bull named Gus. It was certainly a calmer ride than he is used to in competitions on the Professional Bull Riders circuit. ... Last year, the 23-year-old from Western New York was the first rider from the Empire State to be crowned champion of the PBR, the 30-year-old Professional Bull Riders tour. He watched his first PBR event as a kid at the world’s most famous arena. ... “It’s really cool, it kind of starts the year off, and no better place to do it but here, there is so much history in this building, my goals were always to be here,” said Swearingen.

He made it for sure. He is part of the PBR's "Buck Off at The Garden," the 16th time PBR has made a tour stop at MSG. ... Thirty-five of the best bull riders in the world go head to head against the bucking bulls. The garden floor is transformed, because you need a heck of a lot of dirt to stage this event — 750 tons of it to be exact.

“Madison Square Garden is such an iconic venue in all of sports and to bring the best bull riders in the world here in the heart of New York City, it’s pretty special for all of us,” said Matt West, one of the voices of PBR. ... West says over three days fans will see the best of the best in the sport, which is wild to say the least. ... “You can’t stop it with a whistle, you’ve got to let it play out and so there’s going to be some good wrecks, some great rides, and it’s always action packed,” said Swearingen.
