I had to go back 3 times.

I had all the documents recommended, even a current passport, but the DMV person wanted me to have my husband sign for me or provide a bill ~mailed to me at my current address. I pay everything electronically these days!

I’m 71, married and changed my name twice, and don’t have the original birth certificate.

It was painful.
