7. Some people don't realize how dangerous the water can be

The oceans, rivers, lakes and ponds are fundamentally alien environments for humans. After all, we breathe air and walk erect on land and evolution has prepared us for a land existence. Even people who are very good swimmers can quickly lose control in a rip tide or swift current.

I've spent a great part of my life messing around with boats and life on the water. The waters still fill me with anxiety and caution. One must always be extra careful around water.

This story is a tragedy. One man lost his life and the folks who tried to save him will have a shadow over them for the rest of their lives.

I wouldn't go anywhere near this dangerous shore.
