3. Teachers are still considered babysitters and get

very little respect or pay due to it. 50+ hour weeks, non stop testing, student loans, overly protective parents, bureaucracy/money BS, large classes, etc don't make the profession very attractive. It has always been underpaid since women are the majority and the theory has been that women will work for peanuts due to their compassion. Compassion doesn't pay the bills.
