1. NY Times did a "Wire Cutter" analysis of popular insect repellents. Three came out on top. Each has a different focus.

Deet product. Cutters. This gets sprayed on the clothing you are going to wear on a day you are likely to be exposed to insects. It should not get sprayed on your skin. It lasts for a day and is effective.

Sawyer spray products. These get sprayed on clothing you are most likely to wear outdoors. It stays on the clothing for several washings and/or several weeks.

"Ranger Ready" spray. This gets sprayed directly on your exposed skin. Either by direct spray or spray a paper towel and wipe it on your exposed skin.

I volunteer in the Great Swamp Watershed Association (N.J.) every Friday. I use all three products and I have not received one mosquito bite in 89 days of being in the swamp.
