I think it's unlikely that he is guilty in this case. A single incident is always possible; a long-term pattern unlikely. There would have been whispers of some sort, and. although his party might have saved him from exposure and prosecution, they would probably not have made him leader, with all the potential for scandal that this would entail. Add to that, that once he was Prime Minister he would have been subject to constant surveillance for his *own* protection - this being at the time of heavy IRA activity; and doubtless also to espionage and counter-espionage connected with the Cold War; and long-term concealment of such activities seems unlikely. The organizations, where extensive paedophilia went on unreported, have tended to be closed institutions with little surveillance.

My suspicion is that this is started with a personal or political vendetta, or 'unmarried = gay = paedophile' bigotry. And after spending two years of time and public money on it, it's a bit unlikely that the Wiltshire police force would just say 'we wasted our time'. And after all, *any* allegation of paedophilia should be taken seriously, for investigation.

As I say, I may be wrong - but there have been so many smear campaigns against politicians and others, notably the Clintons, that I am inclined to suspicion.
