It's not the process of cutting hair that makes razor-blades blunt. Hair is far too soft for that.

It's corrosion due to the water you leave on your razor-blades after using them. If you leave your razor-blades lying around while wet, they become blunt.

I shake my razor a few times really hard to get rid of all the drops. Sometimes I wipe the blades with a small piece of toilet-paper. I use cheap razor-blades and they easily last weeks and months.
