The thread was likely self-deleted, and it appears the new software does not yet know how to handle a self-deleted thread on the home page. So it displays a blank thread title and username and December 1969 as the timestamp, for reasons explained here:

Fortunately as these bugs come up, we can fix them so they don't occur again. The reason you're seeing stuff like that now is because this is still new software. As time goes by, we'll be able to smooth out all these little annoyances.
