True, protector may be the meaning, but the patr- prefix implies a male or male derived or applicable concept, of which "protector" may be considered, in times when Latin was an active language, assumed to be a male role.

Nonetheless, I believe the choice of this particular scene may not be simply for the gape-mouthed yell visual, but to illustrate another patr- word... you know... patriarchy.
