Ronald Regan busted the unions so labor lost it's negotiating power & TPTB replaced living wages with easy credit. Now the middle class is maxed out. We're trinket rich & asset poor. I read that in an article about how middle class Americans have the latest in electronics, nice furniture, & nice cars but they have no equity.

We need a new economic system, one not based on consumption. Not just the US, but the entire world. I have no idea what that looks like & every time I mention it in a DU post, no one responds, so I guess I'm not the only one who can't quite visualize something different. ??? I think it must start with taking profit out of the equation, or at the very least, balancing it somehow.

My economics classes were long ago.
