Comment: Through distraction and denial, governments are playing politics at the cost of the planet

Industry Insight from Ethical Corporation Magazine, a part of Thomson Reuters.

May 23 - Earlier this month, the world’s top climate scientists warned that the planet is headed for at least 2.5C of warming, with calamitous results for humanity.

Experts continue to warn us we’re in a mess. Following 10 consecutive months of global heat records, many are confounded at the lack of action we are seeing from governments.

In the UK, all the advice tells us the climate crisis needs to be at the centre of national security measures, as is the case in the United States and Germany. It is a “threat multiplier,” that will contribute to instability and the risk of unrest in many countries.

The question is, why is nobody listening? And if they are, why aren’t we hearing about it?
