climate change causes hotter and drier summers, longer summers... which increases the number and severity of forest fires, which releases massive amount of CO2, lather, rinse, repeat...

Same is now happening to the peat moss and tundra. and soon the methane clathrates in our oceans.

There will still be a planet earth... many species will continue.

Humans, on the other hand, will soon find that we cannot sustain 9 billion on the changed planet that we live on. The remaining question is do we fight to change the climate back to what was sustainable, do we party and crash the human race like it's 1999, or can we find a soft landing at 4 billion or 2 billion people living in a much less food / fresh water / living closer to the poles and away from the oceans world?
