Personally my favorite veggie burger is the Amy's Texas burger, but it's not really meat-like. If you're looking for something that resembles meat, I think the gardein beefless burger is the best I've tried, by far.
If you have access to them in your area, I also suggest any Field Roast products. I haven't had one I didn't really, really like, but the sausages are especially good.

I LOVE Butler Soy Curls. They reconstitute like TVP, only they're big and have a nice texture.

Maybe start slowly. Ground turkey is readily available everythere. Mix it with bread or cracker

No I usually don't shop at Kroger here in Houston there's a chain called HEB I like them more
