calf when gestation is complete. I'm mainly vegan, but get a few eggs from friends who have happy family chickens as pets. I agree the egg and dairy industry are cruel, but often people will eat a vegetarian diet for a while before going full vegan. In that scenario I think it's like a stepping stone and can help some folks transition to veganism.
