That would ensure their total annohilation. I believe they want to avoid that.

But Bibi has already stated the war will go on until Hamas is wiped out, after the ceasefire. So, essentially saying Phase Ii will not happen. Kind of a deal-killer if you ask me. Why would he do that? Because he has a lot to gain.

As for the US. underwriting the deal. What will it do if Netanyahu breaks it? I haven't seen much push-back to Netanyahu. Even with the hampering of aid, the US. has not been able to convince Netanyahu to stop it. People are starving, yet distribution of aid is still slowed and prevented. Why is Bibi allowed to break humanitarian laws and laws of war?

Why would anyone trust a man who has been found to have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity? See the UN report that came out yesterday.

In relation to Israeli military operations and attacks in Gaza, the Commission found that Israeli authorities are responsible for the war crimes of starvation as a method of warfare, murder or wilful killing, intentionally directing attacks against civilians and civilian objects, forcible transfer, sexual violence, torture and inhuman or cruel treatment, arbitrary detention and outrages upon personal dignity.

The Commission found that the crimes against humanity of extermination, gender persecution targeting Palestinian men and boys, murder, forcible transfer, and torture and inhuman and cruel treatment were also committed.
