I assume he meant specifically the Western Roman Empire.
Because the Eastern Roman Empire was very Christian and definitely fell to the Turks.

The most "notoriously" gay Emperors were near the height of imperial power.
I mean Tiberius and Nero. Also Julius (allegedly) was bi. Does that count as gay "enough"?
According to their Christian detractors, anyway.

The Western Roman Empire fell due to Christianity, and the (medieval) Christian position was that was a good thing.
