Follow the Buddhist middle of the path philosophy - Everything in moderation. When I was in the hospital for heart surgery and was recuperating I was surprised to find what was on my meal tray. Breakfast was usually eggs, bacon or sausage with a fruit cup and milk or coffee. Lunch a sandwich with mayo or some dressing and again a fruit of some sort. Dinner was pasta, meat of some sort or something substantial - even potatoes with cheese.

True the coffee was decaffeinated, the milk skim, the "butter" non-dairy and the eggs were probably a low-cholesterol of some sort. But I was pleasantry surprised by each meal and I thought, "Hell, I can do this at home" - which I am doing.
