In reply to the discussion: Well, I made three years - but COVID finally got me. Positive home test last evening [View all]Shrike47
(6,913 posts)45. We avoided COVID for 3 years, then went to California for Christmas. DH got it first and shared.
Like a bad head cold for me: congestion, coughing, sneezing, sinus pain and drainage. Muscle pain. Low fever. All in all, I feel crappy. Doc said no Paxlovid for me due to other health issues and meds (if you take Flecanide, thats a no). I will get over it, though.
DH was initially sicker, higher fever, but he got Paxlovid. He didnt like some of the side effects, like an unpleasant taste in his mouth when eating and some gut issues, but seems to be making a faster recovery.
The docs say that having had all the vaccinations and boosters really helped us.

OP
Keep an eye on it - that was me for a few days - then when the fever hit last night, I did the test.

Also, you talk a lot about hiking so your lungs are probably in great shape to fight it.

I think I hit on the flaw in my own fitness regimen last week. See if you can detect it:

I have COVID right now. The docs said no Paxlovid due to my other medications/health issues.
