Quality of vitamins might be a factor. I have dry macular degeneration and the AREDS2 vitamin formula has been shown to be effective in preserving eyesight. So, I might not live longer, but I will likely preserve my eyesight to the end of my life.

I guess the message is pick your vitamins carefully. And, maybe, if you have a diet with lots of fresh, whole foods, you're ok.
