It means cruel people get a dopamine rush from hurting someone who is kind and good.

Also, if you're in a spiral of depression, it can skew your perceptions. The hopelessness is a symptom of an illness, not who you are and not your permanent reality.

Please remember: you might feel sometimes as if the whole world is laughing at you, but there are many here who cherish you.
