2. Wow, I had always wondered if the ginger I grow was the real stuff.

It is!!! I have a huge patch of ginger on the side under the tree canopy that's been growing since mom gave me 6 plants 30+ years ago. I love them, they produce great smelling flowers that perfume the whole yard. I put them out there and just let them take over a previously empty area. I even have a varigated ginger in front, I'll have to check it out and see if it has the same kind of rhizome. It's a beautiful plant, so I'm ok with it just being an ornamental, but hey, would be great to get organic ginger from my yard!
