Yep. Consider all the people who put a cross-shaped grave marker over their PETS buried in the back yard.

93 years ago, I don’t think everyone in that town would have agreed that only Christians died fighting the Great War. Even then, the cross was a symbol of death regardless of the faith of the fallen.
