This is such a large issue, and I really hope those on the Right, and some on the Left honestly, don't fight him on this. I would be willing to bet there isn't a single person who doesn't know someone affected by this epidemic in some way. Treating drug addicts like violent offenders is archaic and the height of banality. These are regular, everyday people who, for whatever reason, have found themselves in a position where no one would choose to be. The need help not punishment.
