Military planners considered a pandemic respiratory disease a possibility, and gauged what it might do and how it could best be met. It was noted that, along with the possibility of some more virulent strain of influenza, something in the corona virus family was a possible candidate for a pandemic (there having been one or two outbreaks involving that class of virus).

This is a far cry from claiming the military 'knew the corona virus was coming'.
