We got 10 chicks about the same time as you did
to rejuvenate our aging flock.
They are lots of fun,
and should be laying shortly.
Ours were supposed to be all hens,
but somehow, one of the Barred Rocks turned out to be a rooster.

We'll have to see how that plays out.
He has plenty of hens now (18) to keep him busy,
but if he turns mean, he'll have to go.


This is certainly a Delayed Gratification endeavor requiring lots of up front labor.
Glad to see your place doing so well!
Living in the solution is its own reward,
but it is especially gratifying when the labor & sweat starts producing green dividends.
