jobs in aerospace, electronics, optics, university staff, finance, computers, field support, IT management and others. I often had evening shift raising a child, helping her commute to school, driving back and forth to athletics, summer activities, and helping at crunch times, formatting references for papers, moving her into and out of college dorms (ouch) 500 miles from home.

I was called "stupid and lazy"; words that are hard to forget, for their dissonance. And in retirement, I have cleared acres by hand, improved my piano skills, taken photos ( got a sunrise this morning before coffee), keep up with tech daily, and maintain a home (sorta) single-handed.

Going to install 4 new window blinds today, practice piano, walk after sunset if the heat allows, and so on.

Being "Stupid and lazy", as always.

You just have to be honest about yourself, live up to your own expectations, not those of others, nor their projections of their own failures and shortcomings onto you.

Edit to add: My daughter is understanding and appreciative!
