2. There was essentially no damage. You made an effort to contact the owner. You can let it go.

When I bought my first stick shift, I didn't know to keep in it gear when parked, & when I looked out my apartment window, my car had rolled into the middle of the parking lot. I was mortified! Later I lived on a real hill that had parallel parking. I got real good using a stick on a hill & at parallel parking.
