Got to stop in a thrift store yesterday [View all]
I went with my daughter to see her father-in-law. He lives about 40 miles from my town. There is a small thrift store in the town. I follow them on Facebook and hoped to stop in. It is run by volunteers to raise money for their food pantry. It seems like every visit I made the place was closed or we were in town to visit the in-laws. We got to our destination about 15 minutes before the thrift store closed.
The town has a square. There used to be pull in parking spots, but they changed it so you have to back your car in. Inconvenient in my opinion. My daughter dropped me off in front of the thrift store and went down the street to get gas. I'm trying not to buy knickknacks, but I saw a couple of things I liked. But I was on a mission. I have a pair of dark teal pants, one of my favorites, and only one or 2 tops that look nice with them. So I was hoping to get some greenish shirts. All I can say is: JACKPOT! I ended up getting 6 shirts in green, blue, and prints in my size. Bonus, the place was having a 50% off sale. I gave them $5 for 6 shirts. I tried them all when I got home and they all fit. They don't all go with the pants, but they'll go with other clothes I have. I'm really happy that I got to stop and I sure wish I'd had more time.
Another bonus is that the store and the contents smelled good. I noticed when I go in many thrift stores, I can smell tobacco and body odor. My experience yesterday reminded me of thrifting many years ago.
I don't mind looking in thrift stores for specific items. I don't have much luck finding clothes I like in stores selling new merchandise. I like shopping at Gabe's because of the variety. I can usually find things there that I like. We had a good visit with our relative and a good drive.
I just finished washing all of my new shirts, looking forward to adding them to the lineup
