of nearly all sites, platforms and apps strike me as having a very libertarian vibe. Nearly all of the sites and apps we use were created by relatively young white men, so their privileged perspective was built into the foundation.

When the racism, bigotry and misogyny got out of control even for the site owners/creators, it was too late.

Kind of like GOP creating/allowing Trump.
