The Problem with Appealing to White Christian Male Voters and Never Trumpers [View all]

Posted in the African American Group - Black Americans Discussion

We saw VP Harris use this approach and according to Leftists in the Social Media Sphere - it didn’t’ move the needle at all.

We also have an electorate of the Dominant Culture which is FIRMLY entrenched in Identity Politics. That affinity for white male candidates being perceived as more ‘electable’ than everyone else is held up by both sides of the aisle. Both sides absolutely do this.

Yesterday I saw someone propose that Rep Crockett should be a Senator’s Chief of Staff (IE Glorified Steno Note Taker). I’d be willing to bet that a woman of her intellect and academic accomplishment doesn’t know shorthand. Like – Seriously? You’d relegate her to the Steno Pool? The fuck?

Some thoughts/questions on the belief that wins come from flipping never Trumpers and white Christians – be they men or women

1. From a strategic political POV this could do more harm than good.

2. Is the strategy that the candidate will be campaigning with Never Trumpers?

3. If this is the strategy and the candidate loses – will it be considered a bad idea? Or will the dominant culture electorate continue to double down on their view of ‘electability’?

4. We’ve seen where this strategy gets zero Republican votes and pissed off some Democrats. Let’s face it – Democrats in general are HATED by Magapublicans and Republicans (the 2 or 3 that exist in America).

5. Does leaning into the ‘fear of being replaced’ voters advance key agenda items that the Democratic Base requires to maintain our allegiance?

Yesterday I saw two things being banded about in the social media/blogo “sphere”. One was that State Rep Talarico one without the base. He didn’t need the base to win – so he doesn’t have to appeal to the base.
The second was questioning how he would appeal to the base voters to win the general election?

That doesn’t make sense. It simply doesn’t make sense.

Traditionally the base has voted for Harm Reduction. I came of age to vote in 1991 – and every election since 1992 (local, state and and federal) ‘Harm Reduction’ has been in the back of my mind. But here and now in 2026 – I don’t see the harm being done to Black Americans in a way that we can’t withstand whatever comes our way. Let’s face it – we ARE our ancestors. We’ve inherited the ability to withstand far worse than anything being inflicted on the American people now so intergenerational trauma has given us an ability to not fall to pieces as some other demographics have.

My core issues for voting have changed RADICALLY since November 5, 2024. I’m still Voting Rights. I will ALWAYS be that way. But the social safety net has been replaced with gun ownership without ANY govt oversight.
Equal Protection for all has changed to Equal Protection for residents of the Great State of New Jersey. Fair Taxation has been replaced with a desire to see my state government outlaw the collection of Federal Payroll taxes – since the money is being stolen and given to undeserving people in places like South Dakota.

I know I’m not the only Black women who will most likely despise this country for the rest of her life. I just don’t think it has REALLY hit the dominant culture how much we despise the country. And it definitely hasn’t hit them we have the tools to withstand this regime.
