5. "The Alchemy of Monsters and Mayhem", by Gigi Pandian. The latest in a

mystery series featuring 350 year-old alchemist Zoe Faust, and her partner in crime-solving, 160+ year-old accidentally alchemically alive gargoyle Dorian Robert-Houdin, a gourmet chef who sees himself as a counterpart to Poirot. This one involves a history of family secrets and dynamics, rare teas, punk rockers, and monster plants that may, or may not, be living monsters.

"An Unexpected Peril", by Deanna Raybourn, part of the Veronica Speedwell (some will get it) series. England,1896, Veronica and her partner Stoker are involved in the suspected murder of a famous woman alpinist, important treaties, imoersonating royal personages, secret loves, and the battle for women's suffrage. I just started the book.

By the way, I WANT THAT BEDROOM!!!
