but the editor in me can't help suggesting "the weatherman" for "meteorologists" in the first line. I like the idea of the sky trying to intimidate with growling, threatening noises and with heat lightning--it's a lovely image. And then you, in the face of all the attempts to scare you, sitting on your front porch loving it.

Reminds me a little of "Please don't throw me in the briar patch!"
