4. writing develops thought...

...not only for the writer, but also for the reader. I seldom write what I'm really trying to say on the first draft, but through draft after draft my thought becomes clearer, both to me and the reader. From there, a writer has made the world a better place, provided a new launching place for thoughts that follow. From having written and read, we gain greater understanding of our experience in the world and facilitate its evolution in consciousness.
