Big 12, Pac-12 won't partner up as extensive talks come to an end, per report [View all]

The Big 12 may be open for business, but not with the Pac-12.

Extensive talks of a partnership between both conferences that spanned over two weeks have officially ended, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Monday.

According to the report, the deal didn’t work for the Big 12 because of multiple reasons, including that it wouldn’t have driven much revenue to the league.

The Pac-12 was rocked last month when USC and UCLA shocked the college sports world to bolt to the Big Ten. The Big 12 is familiar with losing two marquee schools, as Texas and Oklahoma are set to join the SEC in 2025.

New Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, who replaces Bob Bowlsby, was officially introduced during the conference’s media days last week. He declared that the Big 12 was “open for business.”
