that was a stellar return for Boyd. Through 5.1 innings he was never 2BBs-0Ks in a count. That's pretty amazing considering he hadn't pitched in over 400+ days. Caught the Cubbies with their pants down.
Other teams will learn and adjust, of course. Just as they will with "Big Christmas."
What I like about Noel is how he's going after pitches out of the strike zone. Just make contact. Noel is so strong he can launch them.
Let Ramirez be the mentor, perhaps the best all-around player in baseball at the moment.
Jose hits strategically, hits for power, hits for RBIs, runs the bases exceedingly well, and plays a great third base. He's close to a 30-30-30 season: homers, doubles, and steals. If Ramirez played for the Dodgers or Yankees he'd be as hyped as Judge or Ohtani.
Biggest needs in the line-up IMO: a consistent #2 hitter behind Kwan. Someone who can offer him more protection with decent OBP and who's willing to sacrifice.
Biggest pitching needs: two or three starters who can go 6 or 7 innings.
