They do not want the playoffs going into Nov in fear of another shutdown when and if Covid-19 comes back with a vengeance in the fall. Inside sources (and yes I do have one) are saying they prefer a 45-50 game schedule with a 16 team playoff ending early October. Most of this is boiling down to how players are going to be paid.
