3. I find the Arenado deal intriguing from a value standpoint.

I know a lot off people feel the Rockies got the short end. The thing is, what they gave up in value was much much less that what the Cardinals received in value.

From the Rockies Perspective:
The Rockies gave up 1 year of Arenado in a season they couldn't compete. In return they received a capable MLB-experienced LHP, two of the Cardinals' top-30 prospects, and a couple genuine might-be's.

From the Cardinals' perspective:
They give up prospects they had no plans for. In return they receive at least two and maybe 7 years of Nolan Arenado when they have a chance to dominate the division.

Though it cost them $50,000,000 the Trade was ultimately advantageous for Colorado. Sure, the Cardinals "won" the trade in terms of value lost vs value gained. It's hard to argue CO didn't ultimately improve their value in the long term.

I want to see 6th street Named after Musial! I'm emotionally invested, too! I was alive for 67, and 68. But seeing as I was under three for both series, 1982, was the first Cardinals Series victory I watched and remember. I remember watching Gibson and Brock with my mother. She taught me the game.
I was in the marching band that played for the 7th game of the 82 World Series. Because of that we got tickets for 1983. It just so happened the day we were there was Keith Hernandez's last game as a Cardinal. In 1985 my sister and I want to 15 games. She caught a ball that went from John Tudor's hand, to Rick Schu's bat to an obnoxious Phillies fan's face to her hands on a fly (not including the face).

I miss Jack Buck!
