If you're into Civ, dealing with native creatures (barbarians) is far more involved. Trade seems to be more intense as you must protect your trade routes with units.

Interaction with other civs has essentially been non exsistent so far, but I picked an easy rating so I could avoid them so as to focus on tech development and dealing with expanding.

It's not civ and it's not alpha centauri, yet it has strong elements of both.
