felt comfortable mixing Christianity and pagan religions, although the church they belonged to was not Anglican or any other main stream church. The church they were connected to was the first in the area that welcomed gay and lesbian people.

Even though my friends were really nice folks, mixing Christianity with my earth religion does not appeal to me at all. My friends did complain that they had some problems with members of their church who kept asking them how many pagans had they brought to Christ.

Sounds like the Anglican church is trying to do the same thing, which as the first respondent to this OP pointed out is what was done over there long ago. They don't seem to get the fact that they are losing members because their approach to spiritual life and practice is mostly not relevant to people anymore.

My personal reaction to this kind of thing: Meh, and no thanks.
